SUMMARY:Coal Bowl Classic
DESCRIPTION:The 39th annual Coal Bowl Classic basketball tournament is set to happen in 2023! The much-loved\, one-of-a-kind tournament will run from Monday\, January 30 to Saturday\, February 4\, 2023 and as always\, will be hosted at Breton Education Centre. \n  \nAfter two years of downtime\, and much to the delight of students and fans\, the Coal Bowl Board of Directors got together and made the decision to push forward for another exciting year – with the help of many school staff members\, community volunteers and sponsors. As in years past\, the competing teams will bunker down inside the school for the week\, along with their coaches and referees. \n  \nAccording to Coal Bowl Co-chair Aimee Romard\, the tournament is a well-oiled machine\, provided the support is there from the community\, “It takes a village and we’ll need all hands on deck to make it happen…but the whole town really looks forward to hosting the Coal Bowl so we know we have the support. It’s our version of a Winter Carnival. The school is also undergoing some major renovations at the moment\, but we’re confident we can work around those!” said Romard. \n  \nDivision chairs and honorees \nThe Coal Bowl 2023 Division Chairs will be Mark Walzak and Dougie MacKinnon and the Honorees will be the 1984 New Waterford Dodgers\, Winners of the Atlantic Intermediate ‘A’ Baseball Championship. \n  \nCoal Bowl Live Action \nAs always\, the Coal Bowl Facebook page (facebook.com/annualcoalbowlclassic/) and Coal Bowl website (coalbowl.ca) will be updated daily with game scores and community information for those near and far\, who are not able to travel to games.
