DESCRIPTION:War Memorials of Nova Scotia and the Maritimes \nTuesday August 15th\, 6:30-8:30 pm James McConnell Memorial Library\, 50 Falmouth St\, Sydney \nAlan MacLeod\, author of Remembered in Bronze and Stone\, will present a tour of Canadian war memorials featuring the figure of a soldier of the First World War with a focus on war memorials in Nova Scotia and the Maritimes. This talk will take place on the 100th anniversary of the Canadian attack on Hill 70 in northern France\, 15 August 1917. The audience will be introduced to some of the men and boys of the 185th Battalion\, Cape Breton Highlanders\, who died at Hill 70. Everyone welcome! \n
