SUMMARY:Ride of Silence
DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday May 17th\, 2017\, 7 pm\, the Ride of Silence will begin in North America and roll across the globe. Cyclists will take to the roads in a silent procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways. \nCyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists. Often\, motorists may not be aware of that right\, or may not be aware of cyclists on the road. We would like to create a culture where cyclists and motorists can share the road safely. \nFar too often we hear of a tragedy of someone being killed or injured while riding their bicycle and becoming involved in an accident involving a motor vehicle. This Ride of Silence  serves to highlight the need for all to share the road\, to be aware of each other at all times\, and to recognize that we all have not only rights but also responsibilities when driving and cycling.” \nThe Ride of Silence is a free ride that asks its cyclists to ride no faster than 15 km/h wear helmets\, and follow the rules of the road. Riders are asked to remain silent. There are no sponsors or registration fees. \nPeople are asked to meet at 6:30 pm at the Prince Street Shopping Centre to begin riding at 7pm. Children of all ages are welcome as long as they are accompanied by an adult.. \nwww.rideofsilence.org \n
