Donkin Mine

Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal Mnister Geoff MacLellan expects the Donkin Mine to be operating before the end of this year…but just when hasn’t been determined yet.

MacLellan, the MLA for Glace Bay, told the cape Breton Post there’s still significant work needed before the mine can begin production. Preparations are also under way to repave the Long Beach Road (No.5 Mines Road) and Highway 255. The minister is working with mine officials on options for the main truck route, keeping in mind safety and the least amount of truck traffic in residential areas.
