Medal Protest

Race walker Evan Dunfee has collected another medal for Canada after a protest over this morning’s result in the men’s 50-kilometre race.

In the final two kilometres, Japanese athlete Hirooki Arai bumped Dunfee, causing him to lose stride. He went on to cross the finish line 14 one-hundredths of a second ahead of Dunfee.

Athletics Canada filed a protest, which resulted in the Richmond, B.C. athlete collecting the bronze.

It’s Canada’s 19th medal of the games.
