RCMP reopen investigation into death of NB inmate from Cape Breton
RCMP have reopened their investigation into the death of a New Brunswick inmate from Cape Breton after new information came out. Matthew Hines was pepper sprayed four times after refusing to return to his Dorchester Pen cell last year. A panel found the use of force was inappropriate, noting the 33-year-old was “under sufficient control of the staff” at the time. Correctional Service Canada has now fired one staffer and disciplined three others.
